Teen sensation Nick Jonas always gets emotional when he performs single "A Little Bit Longer". The youngest member of the Jonas Brothers reportedly had to fight back his tears while performing the song at the Carousel of Hope Ball.
The 16-year-old Jonas and his siblings Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas performed during the 30th anniversary Carousel of Hope Ball, which benefits the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday, October 25, 2008. And the song "A Little Bit Longer", which Nick wrote, addresses his personal struggle with diabetes.
"On the day that I got diagnosed, I heard about this event," Nick, who was diagnosed with diabetes three years ago, said of the event. "And I knew it was something that I wanted to be a part of. To be here tonight to perform is a dream come true for us and for me, it's truly an honor."
His brother Kevin, in the meantime, revealed the diagnosis has changed the family. "It was hard for all of us. When it first happened we were sitting in our house and we didn't understand what diabetes was. So immediately we went to Wikipedia and searched it online to understand what diabetes meant. Once we understood that he was going to be OK, we were way more comforted and immediately wanted to go see him," the 20-year-old Jonas said. "He's doing really well with it and there's times when we have to be there for each other and with Nick's diabetes there are times that you can't control it. And we just have to be there."
